Wini Hinkle

Winifred “Wini” Marie Bristow Hinkle, 76, of Welcome died Thursday, August 26, 2021 at her home. A memorial service will be Sunday at 2:00 PM at Center United Methodist Church in Welcome, North Carolina, where she was a member, conducted by the Rev. Mitch Wilson. The service will be streamed live on the church's website and Facebook page. The family will receive friends immediately after the service in the church’s Christian Fellowship Center. At other times they will be at the home of daughter Heather Ball. Wini was born in Halifax County, NC on February 9, 1945 to the late Charlie Lloyd and Lillian Marie Hasty Bristow. She earned a bachelor’s degree at High Point University and a master’s degree at Appalachian State University. She retired from the Davidson County School System after 32 years of teaching at Welcome Elementary School. She was a former member of the Welcome Lions Club, and the North Carolina Association of Educators. Wini was the music director for 43 years at Center United Methodist Church of Welcome, NC and a former Sunday School teacher. She also taught private piano lessons for many years. She was loved by many, and will be greatly missed by those whose lives she touched. She always joked that if you lived in Welcome, she either taught you or your child, or played the piano or organ at your wedding or funeral. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Harold Hinkle. Surviving are daughters, Heather Marie Hinkle Ball (husband Brian Ball) of Welcome, NC and Holly Celeste Hinkle of New Jersey. Also surviving are granddaughters Alicia Marie Ball of Welcome, and Lauren Elizabeth Ball also of Welcome. The family would like to thank her caregivers Davonna Ellis and Autumn Ramey for the special love and care given to Wini during her illness at home.
