Visitation will be from 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM prior to the service at the funeral home. . Willie was born May 1, 1928 in Lincoln County to Samuel Lee and Jamie Lee Lackey Baxter. She was the retired office manager-bookkeeper for Alexander’s Children Center after 37 years of service. She was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth R. Young, and sisters Charlene B. Codey and Louise B. Beneway. Surviving are her husband, Charlie C. Musgrave of the home; sons Charlie C. Musgrave, Jr. and wife Paulette of Casset, SC, Tim L. Young of Charlotte, and Paul L. Musgrave and wife Amanda of Pisgah; daughters, Cindy Y. Young and husband Ron of Lake Norman, Connie R. Jones and husband Roger of Hickory, Mardele Jackson and husband David of Southmont, and Lisa L. Mackey and husband John of Sherrills Ford. Also surviving are eleven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Our Mama was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother: always the “neighborhood mom,”passing out hot chocolate on snowy days and snowcream to all the kids. Her love for gardening was evident in having the most beautiful yard. Willie was an expert seamtress and pianist. She loved to sing songs and hymns such as “How Great Thou Art” on the piano. Ms. Musgrave loved crossword puzzles and was an avid reader of novels. From her gift with words and her southern charm, Mama could whip up stories to entertain us and leave us spellbound. Willie graduated valedictorian and attended Queens College in Charlotte. We can’t stop loving you Mama, it’s useless to say. Throughout Mama’s life her love for the Lord never wavered, and, as the Apostle Paul said, “I have kept the faith.”
