Mr. William Berkley “Willie” Lancaster Sr., 80, of Cedar Drive, died Tuesday at his home after declining health. A funeral service will be held at 4:00 PM Friday, November 4 at the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel in Greenville, NC, by the Rev. Dr. Jim Martin. Burial will follow at Pinewood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Wednesday at Piedmont Funeral Home in Lexington and from 3:00 to 4:00 PM Friday at Wilkerson Funeral Home prior to the funeral service in Greenville. Mr. Lancaster was born December 16, 1930 in Craven County to Jacob Cleveland Lancaster and Orpha Hall Lewis Lancaster. He moved from Vanceboro, NC to Lexington in 1968. He was employed with Mobile Construction for 26 years, and later retired from Rea Construction after 22 years of service. He was a member of First United Methodist Church and an avid gardener. He was married to Mildred Moore Lancaster for 30 years until her death in 1977. He was later married to Carol Midyette Lancaster for 16 years until her death in 1993. His brother, Jack Lancaster, and sister, Lou Creasman, also preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife, Susan Steed Lancaster of the home; his son, William B. Lancaster, Jr. and wife, Elaine, of Lexington; his daughter, Faye Covington and husband, Gary, of Lexington; his grandson, W. Scott Lancaster and wife, Becky; his great grandchildren, Katelyn and Cullen Lancaster; his step-son, Scott Steed and wife, Tracey, and his step grandchildren, Jonathan Steed and Toni Ayers, and husband, Don; and his step great grandchildren, Jessica, Madeline, and Gavin Ayers; his brother, Alton G. Lancaster of Washington, NC; and his sisters, Stella Haddock of Greenville, and Ethel Campbell of Washington, NC. Also surviving is a special friend, Garland Beck.
