William Henry Young, age 85, a resident of Lexington, died at 5:52 AM on Saturday, June 30, 2007 in Lexington Memorial Hospital. Funeral Services will be conducted 2:00 PM Tuesday, July 3, 2007, from the Church of God of Prophecy, with the Rev. Avon Craven, Bishop Michael Johnson and Rev. Michael Brackett officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Hill Memorial Park with military graveside rites by VFW Post 3074. Mr. Young was born in Danville, Virginia on March 30, 1922 to the late Peter Bolen and Ethel Justice Young. He was a retired employee of Peerless Cotton Mill and he had formerly attended the Church of God of Prophecy. He was a veteran of the US Army, having served in WWII and was a member of VFW Post 3074. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Williams Young, two daughters, Joan Young Hinson, and Mary Ann Young Wilson, two brothers, Garland Young and Alvin Young and three sisters, Clarice Doby, Thelma Young, and Daphne Young. He is survived by two daughters, Gayla Routh and her husband, Doug of Greensboro; and Peggy Brackett and her husband, Steve of Winston-Salem; five sisters, Fannie Trexler and Loretta Keefer of Salisbury, Ruth Everhart and Leila Wallace of Lexington, and Tutti Simmerson of Tyro. Eight grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren are also surviving. The family will receive friends Monday from 6 until 8 PM at Piedmont Funeral Home.
