William Lacy “Buddy” Wyatt Jr., 72, of Clay St., Churchland community died Friday, October 3, 2014 at Wake Forest Baptist Health-Lexington Medical Center after a lengthy illness. A funeral service will be held Tuesday at 1:00 PM at Piedmont Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Ken Norman. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6-8 PM at the funeral home. Mr. Wyatt was born in Rowan County on March 22, 1942 to William Lacy, Sr. and Mildred Clontz Wyatt. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Martin and Angie, and brother-in-law Bob Overla. He was a retired self-employed painter and attended Heaven’s Gate Church. “Buddy” is survived by his wife, Ginny Potts Wyatt of the home; sons William Lacy “Buzz” Wyatt, III (Laurie) of Seagrove, and Tony Wayne Wyatt, Sr. (Donna) of Climax; daughters, JoAnne Wyatt Bristow of Wilmington and Wendy Wyatt Calderon (fiance’ Samuel Cromer) of Greensboro; step-son Joseph Wayne Walters of Linwood; nine grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren. Also surviving are sisters Shirley Baucom of Virginia Beach, Va., and Terry Overla of Churchland; and former wife Barbara Jenkins Wyatt of Greensboro.
