William Donald Williams, 92 of Lexington died Wednesday evening March 5, 2014 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Funeral service will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday March 8, 2014 at Reeds United Methodist Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. Duncan Martin Officiating. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Friday at Piedmont Funeral Home. Donald was born in Davidson County on November 9, 1921 to the late Henry Alexander Williams and Mary Jane Owen Williams. He retired from the US postal service in 1986 after 38 years of service, he was also a farmer for most of his life. He taught the Edd Hill Sunday School Class and was a member of the mens Bible class at his church. He was preceded in death by his wife Myra Sink Williams the love of his life of 63 years and nine brothers and sisters. Surviving are, sons, Michael Shelton Williams and wife Joyce of Monroe; David Lee Williams of Charlotte; daughter, Dona Karen Beam of Plantation,Fl.; grandchildren, Bradley Shelton Williams and wife Amy of Charlotte and Allison Williams Darden and husband Rob of Greenville,NC; great granddaughter, Lily Ann Darden.
