William Howard “Chip” Young, 65, of Western Blvd., went to be with the Lord Thursday morning, September 26, 2013, at Hinkle Hospice House, surrounded by family and friends. The funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday, September 28, 2013, at Piedmont Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Gavin Platt officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, September 27, at the funeral home and other times at the home. Chip was born June 20, 1948, in Davidson County, to Earl Clemmons “Ike” Young and Virginia Strange Smith Young. He was a member of North Lexington Baptist Church and graduate of Forsyth Tech. Chip was the former owner of Chips Flowers and Gifts and employed at Binnings Building Products/PGT for as long as his health allowed him. In 1975, he married the love of his life, Teeny. Chip loved his family and friends but received much joy working in the garden raising day lilies and playing with his grandson. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Maryann Harris. Surviving are his wife, Doris Lee “Teeny” Young of the home; Tonya Webb of the home; Shelly Hayes and husband Jeff of Thomasville; the apple of his eye, his grandson, Koty Webb of the home; and brother-in-law, Steve Harris of Winston-Salem; special friends, Tommy and Danylla Harrison and their children and Sherry Guffey and husband, Ronnie of Lexington In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to North Lexington Baptist Church, and Outreach, 201 Mize Road, Lexington, NC27295.
