William Carl "Bill" Moore, 84, of Horseshoe Neck Rd., died Friday at the Brian Center of Lexington. A memorial service will be at 2:00 PM Tuesday at Shiloh United Methodist Church, where he was a member, by the Rev. Dave Kelly. Inurnment will follow in the church columbarium with full military rites performed by the Davidson County Honor Guard. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Mr. Moore was born September 22, 1930 in Chatham County to James Dossie and Aida Belle Welch Moore. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by eleven brothers and sisters. An Air Force Veteran of the Korean War, Bill was a retired postal carrier, a member of American Legion Post 8, and a past member of The Loyal Order of the Moose of Spencer, NC. He was raised as an American Children’s Home “home kid,” was an avid Carolina Tarheels fan, and a New York Yankees fan. He was a man who knew no strangers. Surviving are his wife, Betty Sue Bumgarner Moore of the home; two daughters, Mitzi Wilson and husband Eddie, and Lori Svejkovsky all of Lexington. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and one brother, Bob Moore of Charlotte.
