William Milford Adkins, age 80 of West 8th Street, passed away Saturday Afternoon (May 12, 2012), at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, after a serious illness of one week. Funeral Service will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday,May 15, 2012 at Piedmont Funeral Home Chapel, conducted by Rev. Ed Armfield. Entombment will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park. The family will see friends, following the service at the residence. William was born July 24, 1931 in Canton Ohio to, Roscoe and Myrtle McKnight Adkins. He was a retired crane operator for Republic Steel, a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, a member of Steelworkers of America AFL-CIO and an honorary citizen of Boys Town. William was of the Baptist faith. In addition to his parents, a son Steven Jay Adkins Sr. preceded him in death. Surviving are: His wife of 54 years Patricia Fronsman Adkins of the home; sons, Robert James Adkins of the home, Nathan Adkins and Wife Charlotte, and Jeffery Adkins Sr. and wife Kristie both of Lexington; daughters, Debra Ann Dornhecker and husband Carroll of Lexington and Connie Marie Adkins of Fort Leonard Wood, Mo.; 10 grandchildren, Jeffery Adkins Jr., Jason Adkins, Jennifer Dornhecker, Jessica Partin, Stephanie Dornhecker, Serena Adkins, Steven Adkins Jr., Cynthia Adkins, Ashley Adkins , Elizabeth Adkins and 7 great-grandchildren.
