Wille Mae Lakey Stewart

Willie Mae Lakey Stewart, 93, of Heritage Plantation, Salisbury, formerly of N.C. Highway 150 South, Linwood, died Tuesday, March 13, 2007, at The Laurels in Salisbury. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Piedmont Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Ray Howell IV. Interment will be in Fulton United Methodist Church Cemetery in Davie County. Mrs. Stewart was born April 9, 1913, in Richmond County, Va., to Gilmer Lester Lakey and Mary Beamon Lakey. She was a retired employee of Manhattan Shirt Co. and was a member of Churchland Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, preceding her in death were her husband, John Giles Stewart; two sisters, Margaret Jenkins and Frances Corriher; and one brother, Rodwell Lakey. Surviving are one son, Johnny Stewart of Linwood; two sisters, Ruth Story of Lexington and Pauline Nelms of Georgia; four brothers, Lester Lakey of Linwood, Gilbert Lakey of Salisbury, Roy Lakey of Lexington and John Lakey of Virginia; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.
