Viva Young Heitman

January 20, 1919 — July 26, 2008

Viva Alma Young Heitman, 89, of Lexington, went home to be with her Lord on Saturday, July 26, 2008. A celebration of life service will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Piedmont Funeral Home Chapel, by the Rev. Frankie Matthews, pastor of Sheets Memorial Baptist Church where Viva was a member. Interment will follow in Forest Hill Memorial Park. Viva Heitman was born January 20, 1919, in Davidson County to William Albert Young and Mamie Lee Myers Young. She graduated from Reeds High School. She married her high school sweetheart, David Heitman, on September 16, 1938. Viva’s service at Sheets Memorial included Sunday School teacher, Sunday School Superintendent of the Primary Department, and Vacation Bible School. She also served with Child Evangelism Fellowship of Davidson County for a number of years. She taught five-year old Kindergarten at Sheets Memorial Christian School from 1970 until 1980. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, R. L. Young; and her husband. Surviving are two daughters, Tamra Snider and her husband, Charles, and Robin McClamma and her husband, David; a son, Keith Heitman and his wife, Marilyn; 11 grandchildren, Chuck Snider and his wife, Mercer, David Snider and his wife, Stephanie, Drew Snider and his wife, Cindy, Tim Snider and his wife, Cindy, Jeffrey Heitman and his wife, Phyllis, Phillip Heitman and his wife, Missy, Mark Heitman, Jonathan Heitman and his wife, Maribeth, Jennifer McClamma, Amanda Thomas and her husband, Matthew, and Beth Ann McClamma; 17 great-grandchildren; a brother, Foy Young and his wife, Geneva; a sister, Charlotte Beck and her husband, Alex. The family will receive friends on Monday from 12:30 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. at Piedmont Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the following: Sheets Memorial Baptist Church, 210 Cotton Grove Road, Lexington, NC 27292; Baptist Equipping Nationals, 210 Cotton Grove Road, Lexington, NC 27292; or Hospice of Davidson County, P.O.
