Beloved mother, grandmother and special friend to all who knew her, Virginia Snider Story, 92, of Irma Avenue, died Monday, Nov. 6, 2006, at Lexington Memorial Hospital. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Second Presbyterian Church, where she was a member, by the Revs. Bea Edwards Copeland and Bill Sosebee. Interment will follow in Forest Hill Memorial Park. Mrs. Story was born in Davidson County Jan. 7, 1914, to R. Dennis Snider and Estella Hoskings Snider. She retired from Dacotah Cotton Mill and Young Graphics. She was a very active member of her church, where she served as a deacon and elder. She was an honorary life member of The Presbyterian Women. She loved working in The Women of the Church where she served as president several times. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, best friend and love of her life for 74 years, Lloyd, on Oct. 11, 2006; her daughter, Jean Morrow; three sisters, Ruby Hayes, Louvinia Taylor and Lucille Klein; and three brothers, Louis, David and Clyde Snider. Surviving are one son, Louis Story and his wife, Louise, of Lexington; two daughters, Louise Coleman and her husband, Louis, of Lexington and Gail McBride of Winston-Salem; and proud grandma of nine grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Piedmont Funeral Home, Lexington, and other times at the home of Louise Coleman, 122 Dellwood Drive. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to The Jean Morrow Scholarship Fund at Second Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 1334, Lexington NC 27293 or memorial of choice.
