Virginia Olive Hartzog of Lexington passed away Thursday at Brookdale Senior Living in Lexington. Mrs. Hartzog was born April 7, 1924, in Lexington to the late Hubert Olive Sr. and Anne Southerland Olive. Virginia graduated from Lexington High School, St. Mary’s College and UNC-G. She was an active member of her community, as well as a member of the Charity League of Lexington, the O. Henry Book Club, Democratic Women of Davidson County, Grace Episcopal Church where she taught Sunday school and Bible school in ECW and on the Altar Guild. She was an avid reader, wonderful cook and an enthusiastic traveler. She visited all over the U.S. and parts of the Caribbean, Asia, South America, Europe and the Middle East. Virginia was preceded in death by her husband Lewis Hartzog, parents Hubert E. Olive, Sr. and Anne S. Olive, sister Charlotte Anne Olive and an infant son. Surviving are her son, Doug Hartzog (Nancy), daughters Anne King (Bill) and V.V. Robinson (Mike), brother Hubert Olive, Jr. (Cateen), grandchildren Craig Hartzog, Charlotte Anne Kermode, Joey Robinson, Matthew Robison and Wyatt Newber, along with 9 great grandchildren. A private burial will be held Sunday at Forest Hill Memorial Park prior to the service. A memorial service will be held Sunday at 4:00PM at Grace Episcopal Church.
