Virginia Lois Griffin, 88, of Brookstone Rest Home and Retirement Center, died Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2006, at the rest home. A memorial service will be at a later date. Mrs. Griffin was born Nov. 7, 1918, in Buncombe County to Lorene Jane Foster Baker. She was retired from Dacotah Cotton Mills. She was preceded in death by her mother; her husband, Ed Griffin; two half sisters, Hazel Bailey and Beatrice Jordan; and three half brothers, Nathan Baker, Albert Baker Jr. and James Baker. Surviving are one sister, Laura Tysinger and her husband, Luther, of Denton, and several nieces and nephews, including Deana Faye Jordan of Fort Black More, Va., Charlotte Hulin and George Edward Jordan Jr., both of Denton, and Quincy Bailey Jr. and Joe Richard Bailey, both of Lexington. Piedmont Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
