Verna Mae Lee

Verna Mae Koontz Lee, 93, of Lexington died on Sunday. November 5, 2023. Mrs. Lee was born in Davidson County on May 20, 1930 to Thurman Boyd and Myrtle Thomas Koontz. She was married to the late Ernest W. Lee who died on January 3, 2000. Mrs. Lee and her husband lived in South Carolina and worked at the Hudson Flea Market for many years. She was a member of Maple Baptist Church. After the death of her husband, she moved back to Davidson County to be near her family. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by two sisters Dorothy K. Baily, and Frances K. Floyd, and a brother Robert (Bobby) Koontz. She is survived by a step-brother Joe Koontz, step-daughter Doris (Teeny) Young, and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Friday at Piedmont Funeral Home Chapel, with burial to follow in Forest Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Thursday at the funeral home, and other times at the home of Edna Hendrix.
