Vergie Evans Blankenship

Vergie Evans Blankenship, 91, of Sunbridge of Lexington, died Wednesday, May 2, 2007 at the nursing home after declining health. Funeral Services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Friday from the Forest Hill Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel, with the Rev. Brent Ferry officiating. Mrs. Blankenship was born July 21, 1915 in Burke County to Henry Allen “Bud” Evans and Lillie Absher Evans. She retired from Kayby Mills and was of the Baptist Faith. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Woodrow Blankenship, and two sons John Woodrow “Johnny” Blankenship, Jr, and Bobby Mack Blankenship. Surviving are two daughters, Nancy Owen and husband, Glenn, and Doris Mode, and husband, Bill, both of Lexington; 11 grandchildren, and 15 great grandchildren. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Davidson County, P.O. Box 1941, Lexington, NC 27293 Piedmont Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
