Vearl Hampton Frizzell, Sr., 82 of Garland Drive, Lexington, N.C., died March 15, 2011 at Lexington Memorial Hospital. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, March 19, 2011 at Piedmont Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Tommy Hepler officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Memorial Park. Mr. Frizzell was a carpenter of construction and a member of Leonard Road Baptist Church, Lexington, NC. Mr. Frizzell was a Veteran of the US Navy having served in World War II. He was living at Alston Brook prior to being admitted to Lexington Memorial Hospital. Mr. Frizzell was born May 27, 1928 in Jackson County, N.C. to the late Norman Frizzell and Ethel Buchanan Frizzell. Also preceding him in death were two brothers; Carl Frizzell and Earl Frizzell; three sisters Aillen Orr, Tulin Middleton, and Janie Sue Frizzell; two great grandchildren Preston Smith and Dillion Wilson. Survivers include his wife, Katherine Sargent Frizzell, two sons; Vearl Frizzell, Jr. and Kelly Frizzell both of Lexington; five daughters, Carolyn Heitman of Pittsboro, NC, Brenda Whittington of Lexington, Pammellia Hodges of New London; Cheryl York of Welcome, Nancy Alexander of Lexington, and Lena Hayes of Lexington; three sisters, Mae Nicholson of Lexington, Leigh Barker of Clemmons and Nina Crawford of Sylva, N.C.; eighteen grandchildren; twenty one great grandchildren. The family will see friends from 6 to 8, Friday, March 18, 2011 at Piedmont Funeral Home.
