Thurman Ray Johnson, Jr.

Thurman Ray Johnson, Jr. 53, of Giles Road, died Wednesday February 5, 2014 at Lexington Health Care. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday at Piedmont Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Ron Haines and the Rev. Darrell Cox officiating. Burial will follow in the Spry Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30-2:00 P.M. prior to the service at the funeral home. Thurman was born in Davidson County on February 22, 1960 to Thurman Ray Johnson, Sr. and Bessie McIntyre Johnson. He was formerly employed with Matcore Metal Fabrications in Welcome. He was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda Johnson, and a sister, Shelia Gail Johnson. Surviving are daughter, Jackie Leigh Johnson and fiancé Steven Ortiz of Tyro; parents, Thurman and Bessie Johnson of Lexington; sisters, Lisa Jones and Karen Gordon (Jeff) of Winston Salem and Darlene Mathis (Arnell) of Lexington. Also surviving are grandson, Bradley Johnson; special cousins, Randy Everhart and Ray Vance; and His special dog and companion, Cocoa.
