Thomas Helmstetler

Thomas Cathell “Tom” Helmstetler , age 75, died Saturday, June 21, 2008 in Lexington Health Care after an illness of six months. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, June 24, from the Second Presbyterian Church conducted by Rev. Bill Sosebee. Burial with Military Rites by the VFW Post # 3074 will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park. Mr. Helmstetler was born August 23, 1932 to Harvey Lee Helmstetler and Johnsie Cross Helmstetler. He was a retired employee of Hedgecock Builders Supply and a member of Second Presbyterian Church. He was an Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict and a member of VFW Post # 3074, American Legion Post # 8 and Amvets Post # 13. He was preceded in death by his parents, by a brother Bill Helmstetler and a sister, Nancy Niven. Mr. Helmstetler is survived by his wife, Bobbie Wrenn Helmstetler, by a son, Tad Helmstetler and Fiancee, Diane Morrison of Lexington; a brother James Helmstetler and wife Pat of Cooleemee; and a sister Becky Smoot Leonard of Surf City. The family will see friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Monday at Piedmont Funeral Home and other times at the residence..
