Thelma Burkhalter Shoaf, 87, of Shoaf Road, died Friday at Hinkle Hospice House. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, February 24, 2015 at 2:00 PM at the Snider Family Cemetery by Preacher Clyde Akers. The family will receive friends after the service and other times at the home. Mrs. Shoaf was born October 15, 1927 in McRae, Ga. to John and Laura Moore Burkhalter. A homemaker, she was of the Baptist faith, and enjoyed gardening, working in her yard, cooking for her family, and fishing with family and close friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Frank M. Shoaf, and brothers B.M., J.L., and John Burkhalter. Surviving are son Wendell Shoaf (Kathy) of Churchland; daughters Laura Ann Samuels (James) of Lexington, and Catherine Fuehrer (Paul) of Locust Grove, Ga.. Also surviving are grandchildren Adrian Samuels (Jennifer), Crystal Samuels, Shane Samuels, Frankie Shoaf (Stacey), and Amber Hooks; great-grandchildren Anakin, Elyse, Adam, and Alyssa; step-great-grandchildren Steven, Brandon, Michelle, and Jenna; one step-great-great-grandchild; sister-in-law Sue Beasley Burkhalter of Ga.; and several nieces and nephews in Georgia.
