Thelma Kathryn Couch

Mrs. Thelma Kathryn Laird Couch, 87, died Thursday, October 24, 2019 at Thomasville Medical Center.  A funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM Monday, October 28, 2019 at First Baptist Church of Welcome, with the Revs. Jonathan Goodman and Mark Blair officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.  Mrs. Couch was born June 20, 1932 in Davie County to the late Alec Frank and Carrie Riddle Laird. A member of First Baptist Church of Welcome, she was a retired sales representative for Avon. She was preceded in death by her husband Roscoe Roan Couch, son Timothy Frank Couch, daughters Cathy Diane Couch and Pamela Couch Myers, and sister Lydia Laird.  Surviving are sons Roscoe Roan Couch, Jr. (Gail) of Marion, and Andrew Wilson Couch (Tammy) of Garner; daughter Marcia Ann Atkins (Ron) of Wallburg; grandchildren Timothy Couch of Warrenton, Brian Couch of Wallburg, Spencer Couch of Garner, and Dr. Jeff Atkins (Annie) of Richmond, Va.; and great-grandchildren Alannah Couch, Leah Couch, Tim Couch, III, Addison and Gus Atkins, Kye, Cade, Maverick, and Isaac Couch. Also surviving are sisters Helen Lanier of Advance, and Edna Matthews of Boonville, and several beloved nieces and nephews.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The American Cancer Society, 4-A Oak Branch Dr., Greensboro, NC  27407.
