HEADING: Temple Strickland Temple “Sarge” Strickland, 73, of Cow Palace Road, Lexington, died Tuesday, June 21, 2011 at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Funeral Services will be at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, June 25, 2011 at Piedmont Funeral Home Chapel with preacher Clyde Akers officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park, Lexington. Visitation will be 6 to 8 Friday, June 24, 2011 at Piedmont Funeral Home. Mr. Strickland was born Harnett County, Dunn, NC on July 18, 1937 to the late Alex Strickland and Mazzie Miller Strickland. Also preceding him in death were 2 sisters, Rosie Houser of King, and Betty Odom of Pensicola, FL; two brothers George Strickland, and Johnny Strickland. Survivors include his wife, Daisy May Smith Strickland; 3 sons, Paul Mash Strickland, Jr.;Anthony Dwayne Strickland, and James Alexander Strickland all of Lexington; 3 daughters, Patsy Ann Harrington of Elkton MD. ,Barbara Ruth Eller of Aberdeen, ID., Paula Jean Williams of Lexington; 1 sister, Terri Van Tassell of Mt. Dora, FL.; 9 Grandchildren and 8 Great-grandchildren. Mr. Strickland was a retired veteran from the Army National Guard for 30 years, and had been a truck driver for Billings Transfer.
