Tade Leonard

Mr. Tullar Meredith “Tade” Leonard, 97, of Tater Bug Drive, died Tuesday, September 07, 2010 at the Hinkle Hospice House. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, September 9 from the Piedmont Funeral Home Chapel, by Rev. Melvin Austin. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM Wednesday at Piedmont Funeral Home. Mr. Leonard was born November 14, 1912 in Davidson County to Arthur and Lula Waitman Leonard. He retired from Dacotah Cotton Mill and was a farmer. He was a charter member of Faith Baptist Tabernacle and enjoyed fishing. His wife, Kathleen Whitaker Leonard, a son, Dennis Marble, and a daughter, Margaret Ragan, preceded him in death as well as five brothers and two sisters. He is survived by his son, Jim Smith of Lexington; his daughter, Georgia Beckom of Linwood, his wife, Dolly Jernigan Leonard of Denton; 3 grandchildren, 6 step grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, 13 step great-grandchildren, and 21 step great-great grandchildren.
