Tad Wrenn Helmstetler

Tad Wrenn Helmstetler, 60, of Lexington, North Carolina passed away Wednesday, December 11, 2024 at his home.

He was born January 17, 1964 to Thomas and Bobbie (Wrenn) Helmstetler who preceded him in death. Tad was a 1982 graduate of Lexington High School. He also graduated with honors from Elon College and The University of North Carolina-Charlotte. He spent his entire professional career with the Rowan County, NC Department of Environmental Health as a water and wastewater inspector and retired as a supervisor. Tad served the people of Rowan County for three decades with compassion and professionalism. Tad spent decades as a ham radio operator. Tad was a faithful member of New Hope Presbyterian Church in Lexington, where he served in many capacities, most notably as the sound and recording engineer.

He is survived by his uncle Thomas Wrenn and aunt Rossilea, uncle Jim Helmstetler and aunt Pat, former spouse Shelly Smith Irwin, former spouse Tina Wilkins, and numerous friends including Michael and Rita Owen, and his beloved dog Lola who has a new home. Tad will always be remembered for his deep love of animals, having adopted and rescued many dogs, cats and turtles.

A memorial service will be held at New Hope Presbyterian on Friday, December 20 at 11:00 am.
