Born in Wadesboro, North Carolina on October 22, 1959 to the late David Ralph Kephart and Ellen Virginia Hembree Kephart.
Susan was a member of the Rainbow Girls and was a Brownie (Girl Scout) as a child. Her family moved to Davidson County in the early 60's, where she would grow up to become a Nurse working in the ICU at Lexington Memorial Hospital until debilitating back pain and neuropathy forced her to go on disability.
Someone to always speak her mind, she was loved by both her co-workers and patients alike. She was a hard worker who strived for perfection, and went the extra mile to make sure her patients were always well taken care of.
She married James ‘Corky’ York in 1988 and together they had two amazing children; Jesse and Sarah York, born 6 years apart. Susan was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, and mother who did the absolute best she could, and then some, for her family. There was never a need or want that she didn't meet for her children.
Susan was also a devout Christian who instilled those qualities in others through an absolutely unwavering faith. She loved to crochet and sew, but her real passion was gardening. She was her happiest while in the great outdoors tending to her beautiful flower beds.
