Shirley Poole Giles

Shirley Poole Giles, 73, of Trinity died Saturday, December 21, 2019 at her home.

A funeral service will be held at 11am Friday, December 27 at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, by ­­­­the Rev. Vern Kinard. Burial will follow at Sandy Creek Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6-8pm Thursday at Piedmont Funeral Home and other times at home.

Mrs. Giles was born January 24, 1946 in Davidson County to the late Dewey James Poole and Nona Pickett Poole.  She retired from High Point University and was a member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church.  Her husband, Curtis Alfred Giles, and five brothers, preceded her in death.

She is survived by her sons, Alfred Dale Giles (Kathleen James) of Tyro, Marvin Scott Giles (Gina) of Denton, William Curtis Giles (Leslie) of Southmont; her daughter, Melissa Giles Hicks (Kenneth) of China Grove; her sister, Irene Poole Craver of Tyro; 12 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials should be made to St. Lukes Lutheran Church, 4299 S. NC Highway 150, Lexington NC 27295 or to Hospice of Davidson County, 200 Hospice Way, Lexington NC 27292.
