Savanna Dessie Caraway

March 26, 1942 — November 6, 2017

Savanna Dessie Smith Caraway, 75, of Fair Circle died Monday, November 6, 2017 at Hinkle Hospice House.   A memorial service will be at 2:00 PM Friday at Bethel United Methodist Church in Winston-Salem, where she was a member, conducted by the Rev. David Peeler. Interment of her cremains will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 1:30 PM before the service at the church.   Mrs. Caraway was born in Forsyth County March 26, 1942 to the late Frank and Nellie Summerford Smith. An avid bingo player she had previously worked at China City Restaurant in Winston-Salem for twenty years, and at Wong’s Restaurant in Greensboro for ten years.   Surviving are her husband David Caraway of the home; sons David H. Caraway and wife Teresa of Lexington, and Robert Caraway and wife Kate of Tampa, Florida; and daughter Robin Watkins of Ft. Pierce, Florida. Also surviving are grandchildren Amber and Jonathan Harding, Ashley and Lauren Caraway, and Ryan Scarce; and great-grandchildren Jonathan and Blair Harding, and Kayden and Elliot Scarce.
