Sarah Runkle Smith AGE: 81 of Park St, Lexington died Monday at Lexington Memorial Hospital A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, June 9, 2006 at Second Presbyterian Church conducted by Rev. Bea Edwards Copeland with burial to follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park Mrs. Smith was born April 19, 1925 in Greene County, VA to the late Judson Alfred Runkle and Laura Kennedy Runkle. She was a retired employee of Lexington Telephone, with 35 years of service and was a member of Second Presbyterian Church, where she was a member of the Women’s Circle. In addition to her parents, preceding her in death was (2) sons, Dwight and David Smith, and (2) sisters, Beth Chapman and Louella Powell. SURVIVING ARE: SPOUSE: Raymond J. Smith of the home DAUGHTER: Nancy Smith of Lexington BROTHER: John Runkle of Wheaton, Maryland SPECIAL SISTER IN LAWS: Annie Stanley and Hazel Little both of Christmas, Florida, Frances Bates, and Helen Washburn both of Lexington The family will receive friends Thursday from 6 until 8 PM at PIEDMONT FUNERAL HOME and other times at the residence.
