Sarah Myers

Miss Sarah Myers, 91, of Rosemary Drive, died Wednesday, December 21, 2011 at Forsyth Medical Center. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, December 26 at the Piedmont Funeral Home Chapel, by the Rev. Dr. Jim Martin. Burial will follow in the Lexington City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 PM Monday prior to the service. Miss Myers was born May 16, 1920 in Cumberland County to Samuel W. Myers, Sr. and Annie Griffin Myers. She was a retired bookkeeper and active member of First United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Wesley Sunday School Class, where she served as treasurer for 15 years and also as President. She also coordinated volunteers for the church office, and volunteered for Meals on Wheels and Crisis Ministries. Miss Myers was also a loyal Democrat and served as Precinct Chairman for Lexington Ward 4 for 22 years. Her brothers, Doug Myers, Carl Myers, and Samuel W. Myers, Jr., preceded her in death. She is survived by her brother, James M. Myers of Atlanta, GA and many nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, 310 S. Main Street, Lexington NC 27292.
