Sambun Chanarith Ngan, 90, of Winston Salem, NC completed his journey here with us on June 21st 2025.
Sambun was born in Cambodia to the late Leng Ngan(father) and the late Chen Bech Lach(mother) on May 5th 1935. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and uncle whose life was marked by both profound struggles and remarkable resilience. From a young age, he lost both of his parents. He was forced to grow up and take on responsibilities that no child should ever have to bear. He faced the challenges of mental illness, battling demons that many could not see. Despite these struggles, he approached life with an unwavering spirit and determination. He found solace in his spiritual commitment, spreading compassion and giving to those less fortunate. He had a unique ability to empathize with those who are suffering. The lessons that he imparted will always be cherished.
Sambun is preceded in death by his only younger brother Thy, his oldest sister Yoeun Leng and his cousin Thou Thao.
He is survived by his wife, Thy Ngan (Voth); his daughter, Sokhom Sambun (Chhourn Hong) of Fall River, MA; his daughter, Sonia Sokha Sambun (Samoeun Tith) of Lexington, NC; his son, David Sambun (Sreyneou Pith) of Winston Salem, NC; his daughter, Sokon Chu (Hong Chu) of Fall River, MA; his sisters, Yin Leng of Michigan, and Yan Leng of France; his grandsons, Pheaktra Sambun (Deserie Sambun), Thara Sambun, Chunlee Tith, Ritty Tith, Davinn Tith, Nisai Sambun, and Jonathan Sao; his granddaughters, Jasmine Sao, Tina Sambun, Layla Chu, Anjali Chu; his great grandson, Lorenzo Sambun; and many nieces and nephews.
