Sally Carter

Sally Carter, 68, passed away peacefully at her home in Lexington early Wednesday morning, Dec. 22, 2010. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the First United Methodist Church in Lexington by the Revs. Kelley Groce and Dr. Lee Dukes III. The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Piedmont Funeral Home. Sally was born as Sara Elisabeth Riddle in Lexington on Feb. 19, 1942, to Earle and Helen Riddle. Throughout her life she put others ahead of herself, always keeping busy with the volunteer work that was so important to her. She enjoyed traveling whenever she got the chance, especially to Charleston, S.C., but more than anything, Sally truly loved spending time together with her family and friends. She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Ned Carter; daughter Lisa Carter and husband Howie McDonell; son Greg Carter and wife Lisa Kemp Carter; grandchildren Grace and Jackson Carter; son Alan Carter and wife Bright Carter; granddaughter Anderson Carter; daughter Lauren Carter and husband Ben Spiker; brother Eddie Riddle and wife Judy and their family; sister Susanne Nelson and husband Barry and their family. She was preceded in death by her parents. In lieu of flowers, donations to Hospice of Davidson County, 200 Hospice Way, Lexington, NC 27292 and to Family Services of Davidson County, P.O. Box 607, Lexington, NC 27293, are encouraged.
