Sadie Ann Bailey, age 99, of West Fifth Avenue, died Thursday evening March 28, 2013, at Hinkle Hospice House, after an extended illness. A graveside service will be 2:00 PM, Saturday at Lexington City Cemetery, conducted by Rev. Robin Keating. The family will see friends after the graveside service, and other times at the home of her niece Peggy Bailey Bates, Dearr Drive, Lexington. Sadie was born in Thomasville, February 27, 1914 to William Henry Bailey and Maude Warner Bailey. She was a graduate of Lexington Senior High, Georgia Baptist Mercy School of Nursing, University of Georgia. Sadie continued her education, at Emory University, Mental Health Institution, Milledge GA, Warm Springs Foundation, Warm Springs, Georgia, University of Chicago IL, Winston Salem University, Winston Salem, Wake Forest University, University of North Carolina Chapel Hill, and Ohio State University. She taught at Georgia Baptist, in Atlanta, N.C. Baptist Hospital, and Forsyth Community College. Miss Bailey appreciated fine arts, and music while in Atlanta. She studied music under Madame Margaret Hecht, former opera star from Vienna Austria. She was a member of First Reformed United Church of Christ. Preceding her in death were her parents, brothers, Julian Clark (J.C. ) Bailey, John Thomas (Tom) Bailey, Joseph Bernan (J.B.) Bailey and Edgar Lee (Bill) Bailey and sisters, Suella (Sue) Bailey, Ethel Marie Bailey. Surviving Sadie is, a number of nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
