Ruth Joyce Myers Lanier, 73, of Old Highway 64 West died Friday, March 23, 2012 at her home, after a serious illness of three months. A funeral service will be conducted on Sunday, March 25, 2012 at 2:00 pm at Reeds United Methodist Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Gary Foster officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church following the service and other times at the home. Mrs. Lanier was born in Davidson County October 18, 1938 to Julius Hugh and Ethel Walser Myers. She was retired from Lexington Home Brands and was a member of the Excelsior Sunday School Class at her church. She was preceded in death by her parents. Surviving are her husband, William “Bill” Lanier of the home; two daughters, Donna Lanier of the home, and Dawn Hedgepeth and husband Mallette of Lexington; two brothers, Austin Myers and Rodney Myers and wife Wrenna of Lexington; three sisters, Joan Cope and husband Bruce, and Sue Wilkerson of Lexington, and Francis Barney of Mocksville; two grandchildren Matthew Berrier and Christi Sink; and her beloved dog Blackjack.
