Ruth Burroughs

Eunice Ruth Burr Burroughs, 88, of Haywood Road, died Saturday, Jan. 6, 2007, at the residence of her niece. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. today at Briggs-Candor Funeral Home Chapel in Candor by Rick Lanier. Burial will follow in Candor Town Cemetery. Mrs. Burroughs was born Oct. 3, 1918, in Anson County to John Robert and Ellen Gulluage Burr. She was a retired employee of Curtis Packing Co. and of the Baptist faith. In addition to her parents, preceding her in death were her husband, James Clifton Burroughs; three sisters, Nellie Mae Scott, Rosa Burr and Grace Blake; and six brothers, Edmond Burr, Hamer Burr, Thomas Burr, Frank Burr, Robert Burr and Wade Burr. Surviving are two nieces, Sheree Lanier and Pat Lanier and her husband, Rick, all of Lexington; numerous other nieces and nephews; and a close friend and loving neighbor, Pauline Brame. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the funeral service and other times at the home of Sheree Lanier on Haywood Road. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Davidson County, P.O. Box 1941, Lexington, NC 27293. Thank you to special niece, Sheree Lanier, whose care and dedication through the years showed her great love for this special lady.
