Ruth Darr Barnes

Mrs. Ruth Darr Barnes, 83, a resident of S. NC Highway 150, Lexington, died Friday, December 26, 2008 at her home. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, December 28 in the Davis Family Cemetery in Churchland, with Rev. Ray N. Howell IV, officiating. Mrs. Barnes was born July 27, 1925 in Davidson County to William Adam Darr and Jessie Ila Potts. She retired as a receptionist for Dr. Lomax and she was a member of Churchland Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, preceding her in death was her husband, Hoyle Odell Barnes, a brother, Raymond Darr and a sister, Latta Fitzgerald. Surviving are her son, Jerel Wayne Barnes and his wife, Dotty of Florence, SC, her brothers, Mock Darr and his wife Bessie, Lester Darr and his wife Ann, and Carey Darr and his wife Peggy, all of Lexington, her sister, Helen Leonard of Lexington. Also surviving are her two grandchildren, Crystal Parker and her husband Derek, and Eric Barnes and his wife Misty, one great granddaughter, Hollie Barnes. The family will receive friends on Sunday following the service, at her home Memorials in Mrs. Barnes’ memory may be sent to Churchland Baptist Church, 7516 S. NC Highway 150, Lexington, NC 27295
