Rosie Clay Reid Cates, 71, a resident of Hames Street died Thursday, March 1, 2007 in Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem Graveside services will be conducted 11:00 AM Monday, March 5, 2007 in North Lexington Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Dr. Robert Floyd officiating. Ms. Cates was born May 21, 1935 in Rockingham County, NC, to the late Thomas Jefferson and Lela Mae Carter Reid. She was a homemaker and she attended North Lexington Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, preceding her in death were a son Winfred Earl Cates, Jr., and a sister, Lillie Giles. She is survived by sons; James Clay Newell and Thomas Glenn Cates both of Lexington, a daughter; Brenda Faye Metzler of Lexington, a brother; Frank Reid of Welcome, 5 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. The family will receive friends Monday following the service and other times will be at their respective homes.
