Rodney L. Leonard, Sr., formerly a businessman in the furniture industry in Lexington and Robbinsville, NC and Galax, VA died January 17 in Thomasville. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday January 24 in the Chapel of First Baptist Church with Dr. Ray Howell, III and Rev. Tommy Wilson officiating. Rodney was born January 1, 1929 to Shelly W. and Edna Gouger Leonard of the Happy Hill community Rodney graduated from Reeds High School, Class of 1947, and attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where he majored in business administration. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Margaret Koontz Leonard, a son, Lane Leonard of Roanoke, VA ; a daughter, Shelley McKnight of Mt. Airy; three grandchildren (Daniel, Jared, and Meg); a sister, Mrs. Eddie (Pat ) Myers of Rowe Road, Lexington, and a brother, Steve Leonard of Wiggins, MS. The family will receive friends Saturday following the memorial service in the Fellowship Hall of First Baptist Church.
