Robert Wood Yarbrough, 91, of Wilson Road, Linwood, went home to be with the Lord, Thursday evening, August 19, 2010 at Hinkle Hospice House. Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday, August 22,2010, at 3:00 PM at Jersey Baptist Church, where he was a member, with Dr. Mike Collier, Revs. Morris Hollifield, and Bill Adams officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 21, 2010 from 7 until 9 PM at Piedmont Funeral Home, and other times at the home of his daughter, Kay Alley of Wilson Road, where he made his home. Mr. Yarbrough was born on February 25, 1919, to Fred Winfield Yarbrough and Mary Ella Wood Yarbrough. He served in the U.S. Army serving during World War II in the Pacific for four years. Mr. Yarbrough was a supervisor at Wennonah Cotton Mill prior to his retirement and loved farming and gardening. He was a beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, who will be greatly missed by his family and friends. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Ethel Louise Calloway Yarbrough;brothers, Merdith Yarbrough and John Yarbrough; and sisters, Mary Bolan, Inez Beck and Sally Hedrick. Surviving are his daughters, Kay Yarbrough Alley and husband, Robert, Gay Yarbrough Collins, and Ellen Yarbrough Sharpe and husband, John, all of Linwood; grandchildren, Mickey Banks Sharpe and wife, Beth, Mary Melissa Calabrese, Amy Drass and husband, Jason, Leslie Williams and husband, Scott, Brandi Lunsford and husband, Greg, and great-grandchildren, Hannah Drass, Amelia Drass, Mary Carolyn Sharpe, Samuel Sharpe, Nicholas Sharpe and Michael Calabrese; and very special great-grandchildren, Luke Williams and Taylor Williams.
