Rev. Billy Gray Freeman

September 5, 1929 — November 10, 2022

Rev. Billy Gray Freeman, age 93, of Lexington died Thursday, November 10, at Brookdale New Hope Assisted Living in Gastonia.

A celebration of life service will be held 3:00 PM on Sunday, November 20, 2022 at Antioch Baptist Church in Lexington with the Rev. Jerry Beck officiating.

Rev. Freeman was born September 5, 1929, in Forsyth County to the late Joseph Ruben and Bertha Mae Barlow Freeman.  He was a graduate of Fruitland Baptist Bible College and served as pastor to many churches throughout North Carolina for over 65 years of his life.  Bill was passionate about sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ and extending help to anyone in need. He will be greatly missed. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by wife Rullah Nell Beck Freeman; brothers Rober Franklin Freeman, Wilburn Lewis Freeman, Joseph Rudolph Freeman, Hubert Odell Freeman, Bobby Victor Freeman and Jack Caddell Freeman; sisters Lucille Moser, Betty Louise Myers and Barbee Ann Henderson.

Surviving are his son, Nathan G. Freeman and daughter-in-law, Judy Freeman of Gastonia, NC;  granddaughter, Danielle Caple and grandson-in-law, Kalen Caple of Moore, SC;  great-grandson, Marvel “Bubba” Caple;  and great-granddaughter, Gwendolynn “Bubbette” Caple.  Also surviving are a host of nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations to support the work of hospice be made to Carolina Caring Foundation at 3975 Robinson Road, Newton, NC 28658.
