Regina Isabella Burkhart

Regina Isabell Walker Burkhart, 100, of Adams Street, died Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at Lexington Health Care. A graveside service will be held at 4:00 PM Thursday May 18, 2017 at Forest Hill Memorial Park, with the Rev. Colleen Danson officiating. Burial to follow in the cemetery. Mrs. Burkhart was born in Davie County on April 20, 1917 to the late Charlie Paul Walker and Bertha Beauchamp Walker. She was preceded in death by her husband Glenn Wilson Burkhart, son, Harold G. Burkhart, sisters, Helen Ijames, Vera Everhart and Eva Mason. She was a life long member of Second Reformed United Church of Christ. She retired from the Davidson County Sheltered Workshop after 35 years of service and taught Sunday school in the primary department at Second Reformed United Church of Christ for many years. Surviving are son, Paul Burkhart (Barbara) of Advance, daughters, Rachel Layton (Don) and Jane Burkhart (Joe) of Lexington; sisters, Selma Hamilton and Inez Berrier of Lexington. 7 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren.
