Rayford Hahn Clement

Rayford Hahn Clement, 91, of Linwood, NC passed away on Thursday, March 20, 2025, at the NC Veterans Home.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 27, 2025, at Smith Grove Baptist Church in Linwood, NC with the Rev. Terry Smith and the Rev. Mark Blair officiating.  Mr. Clement will lie in state one hour prior to the funeral service.

Rayford was born on August 9, 1933, to the late Fred Lee and Mary Sue Hahn Clement in Rowan County, NC.  He graduated from Edwards Military Institute, Salemburg, NC, as valedictorian of his class.  Following graduation, Rayford joined the U.S. Navy where he served for 4 years.  He then served his country honorably for twenty years in the United States Air Force.  After retiring from the military, he worked as a postal carrier for the Salisbury NC Post Office.  He was a long time active member of Smith Grove Baptist Church, Linwood, NC.

Rayford is survived by his cousins, Brenda Blanton and husband David of Kings Mountain, Becky Leonard of Lexington, Patti Allman and husband Wayne of Salisbury, Jackie White of Lexington, Janet Saunders of Lexington, Randall Clement of Salisbury, and Scottie Smith and husband Dale of Newton NC.

A committal service will be held on Tuesday, April 1, 2025 at 12:30 p.m. at Salisbury National Cemetery in Salisbury NC.
