Ravon Koonts Michael, a cherished member of the Davidson County community, peacefully left this world on November 11, 2025, at the age of 87. Born on February 12, 1938, in Davidson County, Ravon embraced life with an open heart and a passion for the simple pleasures that brought him joy.
Throughout his career as a Blueprint Reader at Proctor and Schwartz, Ravon demonstrated a commitment to his work and a dedication that inspired those around him. Yet, it was the tranquility found in nature that truly nourished his spirit. He loved farming, fishing, and tending to his garden, often seen riding his beloved tractor, plowing the fields that brought him solace and satisfaction. These moments in the open air paid homage to his roots and the land he called home.
Ravon leaves behind a legacy of love, warmth, and connection within his family. He is survived by his beloved wife, Ozelle Sloan Michael, who has been a steadfast companion through the years. Their bond was a testament to love's endurance, characterized by shared laughter and mutual support. Ravon is also survived by his son, Ray Michael, and wife Donna of Lexington; his daughter, Jan Michael Cowan, and husband Ned of Lexington; and his daughter, Kim Michael Hairston, and husband Darrell of Winston-Salem. Each of them carries forward the values and lessons he instilled in them.
In addition to his immediate family, Ravon took great pride in his relationships with his siblings: Franklin Michael of Lexington, Mae Houck of Lexington, Ann Smith of Linwood, and Florence Snider of Denton. The love and camaraderie they shared only added to the richness of his life.
His grandchildren—Adam Cowan (Britney), Erin Mosley (Rob), Stacey Snider (Ryan), Emily Jackson (Erik), Cory Hairston (Danielle), and Courtney Mayo (Joshua) —held a special place in his heart. With each delighted smile from his 16 great-grandchildren, Ravon's spirit shone even brighter, affirming the profound legacy of love he built across generations.
Ravon is preceded in death by his parents, Louis Franklin Michael and Hazel Koonts Michael, who instilled in him the values that would guide him throughout his life.
