Ralph Parks Bailey, Sr., 81, of Kenwood Lane, Lexington, died Wednesday, November 26 in Lexington Memorial Hospital. A Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, November 29 at First Reformed United Church of Christ conducted by Rev. Dr. Walter Patten, intentional Interim Minister and Rev. Mike Hooper. Burial will follow in Lexington City Cemetery. Ralph was born October 22, 1927 in Davidson County to Julian Clark Bailey and Bronette Tysinger Bailey. He had owned and operated Ralph’s Flowers and Gifts for fifty-two years and was an honorary lifetime member of the Winston-Salem Florist Association and the North Carolina State Florist Association. He was an active member of First Reformed United Church of Christ, where he was a member of the Friendship Circle, the Men’s Brotherhood, and had served on the Decorating Committee. Ralph was a member and past President of the Rotary Club of Lexington and was a Paul Harris Fellow. He was married to Mary Allison Martin Bailey, who preceded him in death. Also preceding him in death was his daughter in-law, Sherry McGhee Bailey and his brother, Norman Bailey. Ralph is survived by his two sons, Martin Bailey of Lexington, and Ralph Parks Bailey, Jr. and his wife Lori, of Wilmington, NC, his sisters, Peggy Bates and Mary Crouse both of Lexington, Pat Via of Eden, NC. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Annie Bailey Hucks, Ryan Clark Bailey, Jennifer Leanne Thomson and her husband Brad, and Mitchell Glenn Taylor, Jr., his great grandchildren, Sailor Jayde Hucks, Caden Jay Hucks, and Elizabeth-Ann Juliet Thomson. The family will receive friends at Piedmont Funeral Home from 6 until 8 PM Friday, November 28 and other times at the home of his son, Martin Bailey, 319 Idlewild Drive, Lexington.
