Rachel Lanning Kennedy

HEADING:  Rachel Marie Lanning Kennedy, 86 of Warf Road, died Thursday morning at Brian Center of Lexington.   Funeral service will be held 2:00 P.M. Sunday at Piedmont funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Terry Martin officiating. Burial will take place in Salisbury National Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 6-8 P.M. Saturday at Piedmont Funeral Home.   Mrs. Kennedy was born in Davidson County on June 17, 1927 to the late Fred Franklin Lanning and Glena Mae Lanning Lanning. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sylvanus Stall Kennedy, son, Johnny Kennedy, brother, Frank Lanning, twin sister Racie Weaver, other sisters, Daphney Bruff and Thelma Hunt. She was of the Baptist faith.   Surviving are sons, Lindsey Kennedy and wife Girley of Lexington; Ricky Kennedy of Lexington; daughter, Kathey Wood and husband David of Lexington; grandchildren, Kevin Kennedy, Jeremy Kennedy, Jessica Patterson and husband Zachary, Joshua Wood, great grandchildren, Haley Kennedy, Hunter Kennedy and Zachary Patterson.
