Pearl Leona Queen Barker, age 100, a resident of Lexington, died at 4:30 PM on Monday, July 2, 2007 in Lexington Health Care. Funeral Services will be conducted 2:00 PM Thursday, July 5, 2007, in the Piedmont Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Tommy Hepler officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Hill Memorial Park. Mrs. Barker was born July 28, 1906 in Swain County to Riley Queen and Mattie Nations Queen. She was a retired employee of Templon of Mooresville, NC and a life long member of the Alarka Creek Church of God in Bryson City, NC. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Ottis Barker; Second husband, John H. Barker; Three sons, Virgil Barker; Buel Barker; Amis Barker; two daughters, Eula Loftis; Viola Anthony; and four sisters. She is survived by one son, Nevil Barker and wife Minnie of Reedy Creek; One daughter, Mrs. Pearline Evans and husband Belvin of Arcadia. Thirty grandchildren and a number of great grandchildren and great great grandchildren are also surviving. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6 until 8 PM at Piedmont Funeral Home and other times will be at the home of the daughter, Pearline Evans, 830 Muddy Creek Road, Clemmons. Memorials may be made to the Charity of the Donor’s choice.
