Pansy Honbaier

December 24, 1912 — February 1, 2008

Pansy Lee Johnson Honbaier, 95, of Mountain Vista Health Park, Denton, and formerly of Westgate Court, Lexington, died Friday, February 1, 2008 at the nursing facility after declining health. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, February 5 at Piedmont Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by Rev. Brian Alexander. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park. Mrs. Honbaier was born on December 24, 1912 in Wilkes County to Rufus Freeland Johnson and Julia Ann Moore Johnson. She was a Licensed Practical Nurse and retired from NC Baptist Hospital. She and her husband, Rev. Tommy Honbaier founded Currytown Baptist Church, where she was a member. Rev. Honbaier preceded her in death, as well as her son, Tommy Honbaier, Jr.; her brothers: Glenn Johnson and Fleetworth Johnson; her sisters: Faye Combs, Gladys Southern, and China Hamm; and a great-grandson, Matthew Grant Honbaier. Surviving are her grandchildren: Greg Honbaier and Phyllis Motsinger, both of Lexington; her great grandchildren: Steven Edward Motsinger, Robert Lee Motsinger, and C.J. Honbaier; and a sister, Joyce Sales of North Wilkesboro. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM Monday at Piedmont Funeral Home and other times at the home of the granddaughter, 7720 NC Highway 8, Lexington. Memorials may be made to the American Children’s Home, PO Box 1288, Lexington NC 27293.
