Oveta Lawson

  Oveta  Ruth “Sally” McDonald Lawson, 80, of S. Hargrave Street, died Saturday December 23, 2017 at Forsyth Medical Center.  Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Friday December 29, 2017 at Piedmont Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Elmer McCoy officiating. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will take place at 2:00 PM Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at Salisbury National Cemetery, Statesville Blvd., Salisbury, NC.  Mrs. Lawson was born in Randolph County on July 30, 1937 to the late Thomas Richard McDonald and Beulah Agnes Bowden Baker. She was retired from Dixie Furniture. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Henry Lawson, Jr., son, Richard Dean McCoy, brothers, Tommy McDonald and Paul McDonald, sisters, Mary Louise Law and Mae Hill.  Surviving are, sons, Teddy McCoy and Gregory McCoy of Lexington, Vince Patrick McCoy, Jr. of Gulfport, MS., step son, Marty Ray Lawson of High Point, daughters, Tina Lackey (Kenneth) of McConnells, SC and Rita Pardue (Tommy) of Welcome, 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
