Nellie Thomason Leonard

Nellie Frances Thomason Leonard, age 90, a resident West 6th street, died Friday, April 4, 2008. Funeral services will be two o’clock Sunday, April 6, 2008 from the Graveside in Forest Hill Memorial Park, conducted by Rev. Don Leonard. Mrs. Leonard was born in Davidson County, NC on September 12, 1917 to the late Ernest Thomason and Annie Thaxton Thomason. She was a homemaker and a member of the Second United Church of Christ. In addition to her parents preceding her in death were her husband, Roland Webster Leonard, four sisters, Rose Everhart, Fannie Yountz, Henrietta Leonard, and Violet Young, three brothers, Robert James Thomason, Bill Thomason and Edmond Thomason. Mrs. Leonard is survived by three daughters, Ann Carolyn Broussard and her companion, Al Poole of Cary, NC; Norma Jean Cable and her husband, Gary of Lexington; and Doni Gay Newell and her husband, Eugene of Oak Island, NC; a son Ronnie Leonard and his wife, Martha of Greer, SC; two sisters, Edna Watkins and her husband, Paul and Peggy Milliam all of Lexington; a sister in-law, Edna Stewart of Savannah, Georgia. Also surviving are eight grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. The family will receive friends Saturday from six until eight o’clock at Piedmont Funeral Home. In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the donor’s choice.
