Minnie Banks

Minnie Louise Baldwin Banks, 95, of Grimes Circle, died Saturday, December 26 at Hinkle Hospice House. A funeral service will be held at 11 am Thursday, December 31 at First Baptist Church, by the Revs. Dr. Ray Howell III, and Tommy Wilson. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm Wednesday at Piedmont Funeral Home and other times at the home on Grimes Circle. Mrs. Banks was born June 3, 1920 in Rowan County to Charles and Lomie Sells Baldwin. She was a homemaker and the matriarch of our family. She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church, where she had taught Children’s Sunday School and been a member of the Senior Choir. She was well known for her chocolate pies. Her husband, Horace Lee Banks, Jr., her sisters, Edna, Dora Mae, and Eva, and her grandson, James Browder, preceded her in death. She is survived by her daughters, Brenda Barton (Jim ) of Lexington, Patricia Browder (Jim) of St. Stephen, SC, and Margaret Padgett (Glenn) of Berwick, PA; her grandchildren, Philip Barton, Erick Barton, Anna Barton Walker, Marc Barton, Joseph Browder, Rebecca Browder Dennis, Christian Lee Padgett, and Daniel Edward Padgett; and ten great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorials should be made to First Baptist Church, Elevator Fund, PO Box 436, Lexington NC 27293 or Hospice of Davidson County, 200 Hospice Way, Lexington NC 27292.
