Mildred M. Lanning

Mildred Sara McBride Lanning, 97, Genesis Eldercare of Salisbury and formerly of Seven Oaks Drive died Thursday, May 15, 2014. A funeral service will be held at 4:00 pm Monday, May 19, 2014 at Piedmont Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jerry Wilkes officiating. Burial will follow in Greer’s Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery. Davidson Funeral Home is serving the Lanning Family. The family will receive friends from 2:30 pm to 3:30 pm Monday prior to the service at Piedmont Funeral Home and other times at their respective homes. Mrs. Lanning was born January 27, 1917 in Davidson County to John Lindsay McBride and Mary Louise Barnes McBride. She was a retired Clerk with the NC Finishing Co. and a member of Churchland Baptist Church. Preceding her in death was her husband, John H. Lanning, who passed away in 1975, a son, Dale Lanning, two brothers and five sisters. Surviving are two sons, Donald L. Lanning (Jean) of Rock Hill, SC; John B. Lanning (Jan) of Huntersville; a daughter-in-law, Shirley Lanning of Mt. Ulla, NC, nine grandchildren, Rod Lanning of Houston, TX, Tad Lanning (Lisa) of Rock Hill, SC, Mitzi Green of Charlotte, NC, Melissa Taylor (Don) of Gulf Shores, AL, Casey White (Tim) of Mt. Ulla, NC, Rita Marshall (George) of Salisbury, NC, Anita Lagle (Jeff) of Mocksville, NC, Travis Lanning (Angie) of Denver, NC and Lindsay Lanning (Christine) of Huntersville, NC, 19 great grandchildren and five great- great grandchildren. Memorials may be directed to Churchland Baptist Church, 7516 S.
